Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial

The first edition of the Abu Dhabi Biennial focused on a dynamic exploration of the concept of public space, based on four major axes: environments, community, urbanity and indigeneity. The aim was to analyze the interaction between the modern expansion of the city and its traditional practices, highlighting the challenge of preserving cultural values in the face of increasing urbanization.

As part of the Abu Dhabi Biennale, initiated by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, Manifesto led the design and installation of seven artworks in the city's public space, in collaboration with Electra and Inspiratus, for its client the Abu Dhabi Department of Tourism and Culture (DCT).

Manifesto accompanied artists Daniel Buren, Majd Alloush, Pawel Althamer, Eddie Clemens, Anga Collective, Lucia Koch, Henrique Oliveira and Nnenna Okore in the production of their creations, while coordinating the technical, landscape and structural preparations required to accommodate works by Tarik Kiswanson, Superflex and Nicholas Galanin.

Manifesto took charge of the production of the artworks, the implementation of the on-site installations and the overall coordination between the artists, the client and all stakeholders. We also oversaw the financial and administrative aspects of the project, ensuring smooth, rigorous management at every stage for our client, the Department of Tourism and Culture Abu Dhabi (DCT).
