Producing an art work at Gratte-Ciel station, Villeurbanne
Commissioned by Richez Associés, Manifesto is producing an art work by artist Joël Andrianomearisoa for the Gratte-Ciel metro station in Villeurbanne.
Underground, beneath the roots of the 500 trees soon to be planted for the Gratte-Ciel centre-ville urban project, the artist imagines a dream forest, peopled with words and lyrics that conjure up the imaginary world of the wild. These words are gleaned by the artist from the people of the city. Joël Andrianomearisoa offers an immersion in plants at the edge of a forest on glass all along the quays.
The art work, designed specifically for the Gratte-Ciel station by the artist, is rooted in the theme of « Ré-ensauvageons-nous, la nature reprend ses droits » (Let’s re-wild, let nature reclaim its rights). The words used by the artist, imbued with poetry, draw heavily on the lexicon of nature, mixing numerous terms relating to it with human emotions and desires. These spellbinding expressions capture the ambiguity of emotions, while at the same time being rooted in landscapes that evoke the tales of our childhood. The art work will be inserted into the ten oval openings in the central veil. Five sculptures will be visible from the platform in the direction of La Soie, and five from the platform in the direction of Lyon-Perrache station.
