Bretagne Planetarium
Manifesto took part in a feasibility study for the renovation of Brittany's Planetarium as a cultural engineering expert working alongside COSB, the main contractor.
The first scientific and cultural facility equipped with a planetarium to be established in Brittany in the late 1980s, it benefited from the purchase of a planetarium by the Palais de la Découverte ten years earlier. It has thus long been at the forefront of astronomical innovation and technology. Located in Pleumeur-Bodou in the Parc du Radôme, the Planétarium de Bretagne is now jointly managed by Lannion Trégor Communauté and the Conseil Départemental des Côtes-d’Armor.
The teams of the Planetarium and the joint association that manages it now wish to affirm the site’s position as a center of scientific culture in the territory within the Parc du Radôme, where the Radôme, classified as a historical monument, and the Musée des Télécoms, opened in 1991, are also located. They aim to offer a new experience of visiting and discovering the sky to visitors of all ages. The projection equipment, having reached the end of its cycle, needs renewal to ensure a high-quality immersive experience. The permanent exhibition, updated in 2017, also requires revision to enrich and extend the visitor experience.
Manifesto supported the feasibility and opportunity study for the modification of the projection room, the museographic route, and its operation by conducting a diagnostic of the Planetarium’s programming offer, attendance, and audiences since its opening, enriched with several comparable examples to define the strategic and operational contours of a new positioning for the future renovated facility. Manifesto was a member of the group led by COSB, alongside Jacques Guarinos, a specialist in planetariums and scientific culture.
