Île de Nantes
SAMOA commissioned Manifesto, within a team led by Sens de la Ville, to accompany it in the creation of a leisure and urban culture center in the southwest of the Île de Nantes.
For nearly 30 years, culture has been a lever in the urban project of the Île de Nantes, a 337-hectare composite territory facing the historic center: to bring about profound transformations, create an artistic community, give a collaborative sense of purpose to projects, and increase tourist visitation. A new stage is commencing around the boulevard Léon Bureau, in the south-west of the island (construction of a mixed residential area, a university hospital, green spaces...).
Alongside Sens de la Ville, Atelier Isla and Plateau Urbain, Manifesto has conducted, via a collaborative and transitory methodology, a diagnosis (supply/demand) and a positioning study to accompany SAMOA in the creation of a leisure and urban culture center in response to the new demographic dynamism of the island. With one objective: to bring out a shared vision for the Léon Bureau axis, which is destined to become an "attractive and intense life line".
Several programming scenarios before arriving at the emergence of a unique and relevant scenario and spatialization for the future boulevard, with the ambition to combine community life and metropolitan needs.
