Résidence Duvangu à la foire AKAA
Manifesto is supporting three artists from the Duvangu residency, who have been selected to participate in the 10th anniversary edition of the AKAA (Also Known As Africa) fair — a contemporary art and design fair dedicated to African scenes — held at the Carreau du Temple in Paris. On this occasion, the Institut Français of Gabon, a partner of the fair, will present these three artists.
Within the booth supported by the Institut Français of Gabon, Catarina Neto and Julie Mvie are presenting the works created during their residency at POUSH in 2025, while Vanessa Tess Odongui-Bonnard, an artist-in-residence in Libreville in 2024, is curating the booth.
This participation in the AKAA fair highlights the quality of the work carried out within the DUVANGU residency program, as well as the artists' engagement with contemporary African and diasporic art scenes.
Julie Mvie presents Les Ombres, a striking black-and-white photographic series composed of five works. Catarina Neto Barroso presents several pieces from her Abstract Series.
The exhibition is curated by Vanessa Tess Odongui-Bonnard, who will also moderate the roundtable “Visual Arts in Isolated Territories: What Alternative Models for Creating, Exhibiting, and Existing?” This all-female panel will bring together Armelle Malvoisin — journalist, art critic, and curator; Julie Mvie — photographic artist; Mélinée Faubert — artistic director, scenographer, and curator; and Mae Woolworth — Director of Cultural Engineering at Manifesto.
