Martin Parr, Beaugrenelle
From June to September 2018, the Beaugrenelle shopping center (15th arrondissement in Paris) was transformed into an XXL arts scene as it hosted the Foodographie [Foodography] exhibition by Martin Parr.
At Apsys’ invitation, Manifesto devised and produced this unique installation with 26 large-scale images, working with the artist and the agency Magnum Photos.
As the highlight of an artistic, sumptuous summer, the exhibition featured the documentary work of the famous British photographer, who recounts global eating habits. Conscious of junk food’s increasingly wide reach, he offers a quirky and often ironic take on food photography. The exhibition presented a panorama of fly-on-the-wall photographs taken between 1996 and 2016 in countries all over the world: the United Kingdom, of course, along with Turkey, Hong Kong and even Australia. These photographs capture unusual scenes, incongruous gestures and playful compositions.
