Elliott Causse & Kenia Almaraz Murillo, UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles
Manifesto has handled communication and public outreach for the monumental artwork created by artists Kenia Almaraz Murillo and Elliott Causse at the UGC Issy-les-Moulineaux.
On the occasion of the opening of its seven-screen cinema, in the heart of the new district of Issy Cœur de Ville, UGC asked artists Kenia and Elliott – graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris and currently residents at POUSH – to create the largest art commission ever made in a cinema.
Following the success of the first installation that Kenia and Elliott created in 2018 for the UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles, which was produced by Manifesto, UGC reaffirms its confidence in the artist duo. For the UGC Issy-les-Moulineaux, designed by architect Jean-Marc Lalo, the artists have created Abysses, a total, immersive artwork: on an area of over 1700 square meters, it accompanies the spectator from the street in their descent towards the theaters and back up to the city lights. Wrapped around the façade of the building, fully integrated into the new eco-district of Issy Cœur de Ville, Abysses fully expresses the creative influence of the movie theater in the lives of the area’s residents.
Manifesto has handled the communication and public outreach around the artwork, coordinating the creation of the tools and material for public outreach and communication, the press relations as well as the events surrounding the artwork (inauguration, workshops for children...).
