Curated by Hervé Mikaeloff, Dorothy Di Stefano and Jumana Ghouth and adviser Arnaud Morand, Noor Riyadh brings together Saudi and international artists such as Grimanesa Amorós, Gisela Colón, Douglas Gordon, winner of the Turner Prize, Alicja Kwade, Sabine Marcelis, Muhannad Shono, who represented Saudi Arabia at the Venice Biennale 2022, and French artists Daniel Buren, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Bertrand Lavier and François Morellet.

Entitled "We dream of new horizons", this second edition transforms the city into a dazzling nighttime gallery without walls, welcoming over 2.5 million visitors from international audiences to visitors from all over the globe.

Gathering a dedicated team, Manifesto manages the artist liaison, especially for François Morellet’s artworks, but also the monitoring of artworks production and installation, their monitoring during the Festival and their dismantling, as well as supplier research for 82 of these monumental artworks in the public space.

For more than half a century, Mondrian’s Pier and Ocean series of drawings of 1914-15 has served as a key reference point for French artist François Morellet. With the installation Pier and Ocean, created in collaboration with Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata, François Morellet’s artwork pays warm tribute to the Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. Morellet’s composition of neon tubes with an alternating rhythm of light flashes recreates the movement of the sea. At the same time, Kawamata’s nest structure and wooden jetty reinforce in a striking dialogue the immersive character of the work. Together the two provide a unique tension that lends a special quality to the installation as a whole.
