AlUla Heritage Site
Manifesto is working with the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) and the French Agency for AlUla Development (Afalula), focusing on the strategy and the technical programming of future contemporary art facilities on the AlUla site.
AlUla is a province of Saudi Arabia which is home to a number of major archaeological sites. As part of the plans to open up the country and improve this region’s appeal, the RCU aims to develop a leading archaeological, cultural and tourist site.
Manifesto is involved with the planning program led by the American architect Ayers Saint Gross and has been tasked with focusing on the strategy and the technical programming of the future destination’s contemporary art facilities.
Contemporary art, one of the destination’s key pillars, will feature in various ways in AlUla: a monumental art trail in the canyons, designed by leading international artists, a contemporary art museum and a cultural area featuring artists’ studios, galleries and art schools, among other facilities.
